Princesses and designers…the event!

Wrote by Tristane on Monday, November 12th 2007 at 4:31 pm

I’ve already told you a bit about this. If you remember, this great event is being organised by Disneyland Resort Paris for the benefit of Unicef…Don’t worry, I’ll jolt your memory by the end of these few lines. In any case, get ready, because it’s majorly important.

Thanks to the generosity of designers and the initiative of Disney, on 19th November, an auction will take place at Christie’s in Paris (9 avenue Matignon, 8th district), under the hammer of Lionel Gosset.

Before that, for all lovers of fine things, there’ll be an exhibition. This will take place on Friday 16th (2pm to 6pm), Saturday 17th (10am to 6pm), Sunday 18th (2pm to 6pm) and Monday 19th (10am to midday) November. And you can be sure that, for those of you who can’t go, your little mouse (yes, that’s me…!) will be there to report on the event.
…And for those who like to daydream from the comfort of their own home, you can place orders with Christie’s during the exhibition or auction or on disneylandparis.com ; maybe you’ll come away with an ultra-modern princess’ dress !

Be bold, don’t be afraid of anything is the message that Disneyland Resort Paris wanted to pass on to the couturiers and designers that the park asked to reinvent Disney Princesses. Above all, freedom of expression was the key!
The idea: do whatever you fancy to make unique and fairylike dresses and accessories!

Why ? For a good cause, that’s why.

Because, all over the world, UNICEF acts on behalf of children and the family and because Disney has been supporting this same cause for over 15 years, and Disney’s birthday couldn’t pass by without a good cause. All products from the sale of these designs will be donated to UNICEF France.

Disneyland Resort Paris’ charity work goes back some time.
For a long time now, 800 Disney VoluntEARS have been giving up their time and lending their skills to good causes.
And so, let’s take a look at these deeds: 500 hospital visits, over 700 children’s wishes made true in the park for 15 years, donation collections, etc. etc.
And there’s more: for fifteen years, Disneyland has been the leading tourist destination in Europe. And what other fairylike universe reaches out to the whole of Europe? Fashion design of course.

Oh, by the way, if anyone’s interested - I’m a size 34 (that’s an 8 in the UK and a 4 in the US) and I love princess’ dresses, so if anybody’s paying attention….
