Yes, it’s true… I messed up, screwed up, chickened out, was totally lame and utterly contemptible - and all this in public, as well!
It all happened very quickly… I drew the names of two readers who post on the blog, Guillaume and Anthony, and sent them a mail to see if they were free on a certain day at a certain time to meet me in front of the Walt Disney Studios…
And they showed up - who knows why…
And so I took them to test out the famous Tower of Terror with VIP treatment no less… They experienced something that they never will again: only 5 minutes in the queue… Not even! That’s what I call VIP treatment. As for me, well I also waited for 5 minutes in the queue… And I walked up to the lifts… And then, I left!
Right to the exit…
“Pass Go. Skip the ride and go straight to the shop. Do not get a fright in the Tower lift.”
I’ll admit it: I was scared…
Shame on me!
But when the boys came out, they were happy, delighted, exhilarated… They even wanted to go back for more…

Altough I was CMs for X-Mas I tried this attraction the very last day of my contract, due to the loong queue, but I was delighted. The Hollywood Tower Hotel is simply fantastic, the accuracy of rebuilding an Hotel in all it’s parts, the perfection of all the particulars make this dive in the Twilight Zone a fantastic jump into the dark, even tough I’d prefer to see something more about the Hotel’s Story.
Just one suggestion, be sure that you had no meal before you disappeared into thin air!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was laughing & shaking when I got off. I wasn’t sure if it would be real or an expensive effect, but, once at the top there was absolutely no doubt. I’ll try not to spoil the surprise at the top, but I was wondering where the screaming was coning from when was in the queue…
PS: there may be a height limit, but it could do with a courage limit. We went on with two five year olds who have refused to go on it ever, ever, ever again. And for once they meant it… at least for this holiday. Archie was scared of the drop, but rides veteran Francesca was scared by being turned into a green fuzz halfway up (she doesn’t like the mirror skeleton at the end of Phantom Manor either).
Finally, good news! There’s a FastPass available, and the interior is beautiful - I love the broken lift doors.
The Studios have been transformed.

My six year old son was desparate to go on this and we were at DLRP on the first day that it was open to the public (ie not VIPS) so we warned him that the queues would be massive, but he was adamant. My husband and he joined the queue that morning which said 80 mins - well it was more like 35 in reality, and they came off SOOOO exhilarated. They thought it was brilliant - attention to detail we’ve come to expect of Disney and great thrills too. Thankfully I got to stay with my little girl as heights like this are really not my thing - Rock and Roller coaster I can do, but a thirteen storey drop? No thanks!
