Well, I did promise and you did ask so I couldn’t get out of it… Life’s like that sometimes - a simple “I’m up for it” and then you find yourself dressed as Snow White on New Year’s Eve!

Except that once we were in our glad rags, we noticed a very important detail: Snow White obviously doesn’t have guests round for dinner in a small flat that often. Nor does she normally get dishes out of the oven!
Yes, my friends… It was impossible to wear Mrs Westwood’s beautiful creation without damaging it.
So - I changed from my Snow White outfit for the good of Haute Couture!
Exit Snow White. The back-up outfit was found in less than five minutes (time was ticking by and the guests were about to arrive).
So we spent the evening dressed in black, like 70% of people enjoying the same evening - painfully dull in black! I know - we were rather pathetic. But we still managed to save the photos - a great souvenir of a brief fairytale moment!
Finally, next year’s New Year’s Eve will be celebrated at someone else’s house… Because then I can put on my Snow White outfit and have a great excuse to stay out of the kitchen!!
But before recite the entire menu (and you’ll see that I choose the word menu carefully), I just wanted to say sorry that this entry is so late. I caught a special end of the year virus that totally destroyed my computer and everything on it…
There was nothing left - not even this blog entry that I had written on New Year’s Eve and that I wanted to post last week…
But never mind. I have started again - and not just the blog either. After all - a new year means a new beginning… Let’s forget about the past (although I must admit that I’m really upset about all that!)!
Well, now that’s all said, let’s set the scene:
It’s 31st December 2007, and there are 3 hours to go before our five guests arrive. Our meaning my friend’s guests and my guests, my friend being the person with whom I bought the famous Snow White dress designed by Vivienne Westwood.
The day before (the 30th for those who are following), your devoted author spent 11 hours in the kitchen preparing, as Snow White would, delightful morsels and titbits for the guests and the 6 spice capon (I promised I would tell you the whole menu!). So with 3 hours to go, my friend and I had just about got everything ready - we’d laid the table, put out the champagne flutes and set up the music.
That’s when we decided to organise ourselves and get made-up and dressed up. As you can see from the photos (taken before the make-up, let me tell you), we took it rather seriously!
