The Enchanted Fireworks really are just that…

Wrote by Tristane on Thursday, August 7th 2008 at 10:05 am

The images on a computer are superb, really fantastic… But that’s nothing compared to seeing them for real. The Enchanted Fireworks are the new firework display at Disneyland Paris at dusk. Truly a fairytale experience you’ll never forget!
Christophe Leclercq, the organiser and designer of the event, wanted something huge for this new edition (ephemeral because after the 31st August you won’t be able to see it…too late!), something that would be truly enchanting as only love can be… Is he ambitious? Yes…So what!?

The result: a whole ton of love! Love, more love, then more love still… Love, would you believe it, is the principal theme of these six happy minutes to enjoy after Candleabration… Love, as Christophe Leclercq explained to me: “Often people mock me for my romantic side… But often in the park when I see little girls in princess dresses and couples that look like they have just stepped out of a Disney fairytale, I tell myself that love is the only real thing around…” Aaah…and you know what? I agree with Mr Leclercq. “It’s the most important thing in the world. In Disney’s Once Upon A Dream Parade, we showed all the dreams right up to romance… But what comes after romance? Well Love does obviously! This firework display has seven sections: the introduction with a wonderful outline of Sleeping Beauty Castle and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers… Then beauty follows, with a magnificent projection of lace inspired by the prestigious lace from Calais. After that we have seduction, with plumes that descend the whole length of the Castle, caressing it and showering it with roses. After the seduction comes charm, with a spiral of candles. Passion follows, with overflowing love (more love please) in the form of spiral rays. Then real love appears, the real thing, and the interlacing of several hearts. Finally we have the Happy Ending, with infinitely spinning spirals which is…Sublime!”
And he’s right, it’s sublime!
Technologically, the display certainly reaches the heights of Christophe’s ambition: “we added lots of lights, six enormous beams behind the castle. They create amazing backlighting and open up the field of vision to something much larger. The result is an incredible optical effect providing panoramic vision, a widescreen show.”
For the music, Christophe Leclercq wanted a medley of songs from the film “Enchanted”
And what is it like? Well, it’s gorgeous…Take my word for it…. On a computer it looks fantastic, but in real-life…

We were there last year with tears in our eyes at the firework display. Back again this year in fact we came home a week ago. We’ll probably be there next year!
